CP Students’ Next Step (3/1)

This week we discussed how lives that we live based on the truth that we are committed to. If we we say that we have been changed by the grace of Jesus Christ, then our lives should look different than the world.

KEY TEXT: Nehemiah 10:28-33

CENTRAL TRUTH: Our lives will reflect the truth we are committed to.

  • Dwell: If we say that we are followers of Jesus Christ and we have been changed by His grace then our lives should reflect that. The Levites knew that for the Israelites to return to God that they had to change some of the practices that they had slipped into. We are not any different. We need to make sure that the relationships that we are involved in and the disciplines that we practice point to the Savior that saved us.
  • Memorize: Nehemiah 10:39b
  • Pray: As you pray today, as Jesus to reveal to you things that need to change in your life. Start with relationships. Ask Jesus to show you if there are relationships in your life that are not spiritually healthy and ask for the strength to walk away. Ask Jesus to sow you areas of your life that are not pleasing to Him and be willing to give those to Him. Remember it is not in your strength that any of this can happen but only because Jesus has already won the battle for you.

Tithes and offerings: The tithe represented obedience and faith toward God. Like the first fruits, it signified God’s ownership of everything. Believers are to honor God not only with the tithes and first-fruits, but with everything God has given us (proc. 3:9). To dig deeper and learn more about tithing, read the passages and versus that follow:

  • Hebrews 7:1-10
  • Numbers 18:20-32
  • Malachi 3:8-12
  • 2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Luke tells us that Jesus came to die for our sin, but also to form a people of God who, renewed by his Spirit, are able to serve him in righteousness and holiness all of their days. This good news is open to all and God wants the news of Jesus shared with all. As followers of Jesus, as Christians, we are to partner with God is carrying this good news of forgiveness and hope because of Jesus to those in our lives where God has placed us and is calling us.

KEY TEXT: Luke 5:33-39

CRITICAL QUESTION: What do you learn about Jesus from this passage? How does what we learn about Jesus cause us to respond to Him?
