In attempt to once again rejoin the blogosphere I am now writing as part of my requirements for my internship/job.
I now have two weeks of official Youth Ministry under my belt and there are some definite things that I have learned and have been on my mind. Sadly to say, this has limited my PS3 time significantly. There has been no Assassins Creed 3 or NCAA Football, which to my new wife I am sure has been a relief. Not to worry, I am still eating popcorn on a regular basis, almost every night, and attempting to pray without ceasing (1 Thess. 5:17). Nevertheless, school, ministry, a young marriage, and too little of sleep and exercise is the bulk of my schedule.
Onto the ministry…It has been two full weeks going on three at Centerpointe Christian Church in Lexington, Ky. The first two weeks have been full of learning experience and I wish I would haves. The first week was mission and vision week. I wanted to start our with grand mission and vision statements, but soon realized that not everyone has had three years of Baldwin and know what MVVG is. The activity that I had designed to help teach mission and vision did not start out like I wanted, however, what came out of several major miscommunications was beautiful. The students realized that calling, teaching others, sharing the love of Christ, and discipleship are all important in mission and vision, so much so that it impacts how they live on a day to day basis. Next step, get them to believe what they have said to be true. Together this is what we reached to be our mission and vision.
